ARTHUR PRESENTS 'THE HOLY MODAL ROUNDERS – BORN TO LOSE" AT SILVERLAKE FILM FESTIVAL IN LOS ANGELES, THIS SUNDAY MARCH 26

The Holy Modal Rounders… Bound to Lose
Directed by Sam Douglas & Paul Lovelace
USA, 87 mins

Variety: “Charged with alternating currents of affection, exuberance and ineffable melancholy… BOUND TO LOSE offers an intriguing overview of the cult-fave combo that evolve from an acoustic duo to a psychedelic-folk rock band.”

“This documentary tells the story of the infamous Greenwich Village psychedelic folk duo the Holy Modal Rounders. During the folk explosion in the early 1960s, the Rounders set themselves apart by being original, hilarious, out-of-control and influential. The film follows the band 40 years later after decades of unpredictable live shows, drug addictions, break ups and breakdowns–the Holy Modal Rounders survived one of the strangest careers in music. HOLY MODAL ROUNDERS: BOUND TO LOSE documents their sometimes ugly, but intensely amusing struggle to perform the music they love and hopefully make it to their highly anticipated 40th anniversary show. The film features Sam Shepard (their former drummer), Dennis Hopper, Peter Tork of The Monkees, Wavy Gravy, Loudon Wainwright III, John Sebastian of The Lovin’ Spoonful, Dave Van Ronk, Ed Sanders and Tuli Kupferberg of The Fugs, among many others.”
