NOT DEAD YET: Catching up with Scandinavia's Black Metalists, by photojournalist Stacy Kranitz

A visit with today’s Scandinavian black metalists by photojournalist STACY KRANITZ, featuring King ov Hell and Gaal of Gorgoroth, Satyr and Frost of Satyricon, Fenriz of Darkthrone, Frode Glesnes of Einherjer, Nattefrost of Carpathian Forest, Hymr and Lindheim of Helheim, Jyri Vahvanen of Battlelore, Nebelhexe of Hagalaz Runedance, Mortiis, and Blasphemer of Mayhem.

Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal author Ian Christe wrote the introduction. W.T. Nelson did the design.

This article was originally published in Arthur Magazine No. 16 (May, 2005), which is still available for mail order via the Arthur Store.

  1. Awesome article. Along with the killer issue #13 (which I found at the bottom of the pile months after it came out) it finally sealed the deal for me all those years ago about whether I as a metalhead could dig those hippy-dippy Arthur types, and the rest as they say is history. The magazine is definitely missed.
